ABSTRACT Rahmawati, Sintia. 2023. Analysis of Students’ Difficulties in Writing Procedure Text at Tenth Grade at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Metro. An undergraduate thesis, English Education Study Program, Teacher Training and Education Faculty. Universitas Muhammadiyah Metro. Advisor (1) Bambang Eko Siagiyanto., M.Pd, Advisor (2) Fitri Palupi Kusumawati., M.Pd.B.I Keyword : Influence, Difficulties in Writing, Procedure Text The aim of this research is to find out the students’ difficulties in writing procedure text at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Metro and to find out the factors influence students’ difficulties in writing procedure text at SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Metro. This research is descriptive design using qualitative. The researcher takes 20 students tenth grade pharmacy 1 of SMK Muhammadiyah 3 Metro as the sample of the research. The researcher uses writing test and interview as the instrument of this research. Then, the researcher uses data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing or verification to analyzed data. The result of this research is there are eight students feel difficulty in determining the linguistic rules in the procedure text, namely distinguishing the use of simple present tense sentences, the use of adverbs of time and the use of command sentences. The difficulty experience by students when writing procedure texts is in writing words that are less precise, that is due to the lack of vocabulary own by students. There are six students made mistake in writing procedure text. Twenty students’ uses Indonesia and English to write procedure text because students can not make sentence used English. The factor that influence students in writing procedure text namely difficulties from internal factors sush as difficulties in writing procedure text structure, procedure text language rules and difficulties from external factors such as explanations from teacher that are not understood by students. The difficulty experienced by students in writing procedure text from internal factors is determining an interesting topic.
