Abstract

ABSTRACT SITI NURHALIMAH. 2023. Hot Seating Strategy In Improving Students’s Speaking Ability At MA Muhammadiyah 1 Purbolinggo. An undergraduate Thesis. Teacher Training and Education Faculty. Muhammadiyah University of Metro. Advisors: (1) Fenny Thresia, M. Pd. (2) Fitri Palupi K, M. Pd. Bi. Keywords: Hot seating strategy, speaking ability The aim of this reseach is can the use of hot seating strategy improve thestudent’s speaking skill at MA Muhammadiyah Purbolinggo. How are students’ activities in speaking skill using Hot Seating Strategy at MA Muhammadiyah 1 Purbolinggo. The subjects of the study is class IX grade (regular) MA muhammadiyah 1 purbolinggo that class consist 17 studets. The criteria for learning success is that if Hot Seating Strategy can improve on students' speaking ability, based on hot seating strategy and get a minimum standard of 75 as KKM. The test result showed the students score of pre-test in IX grade that among 17 students there was 15 students or 88.24% that poor category and only 2 students or 11.76% that fell into failed category. The result of the descriptive analysis of the students’ speaking ability indicated that the total score of pre test was 66.41. The average score of post test in cycle 1 was 69.82. There were 17 students or 100.00% who belonged to a poor category in the post test 1. In the pre test cycle 2 there were 12 students get score >74.65. In the post test cycle 2 there were 13 students get score 74.5 or 71.43% who belonged to a poor category and 4 students get score 75.5 or 28.57% who could achieve a good category. In the pre test cycle 2 there were 12 students get score >74.65. In the post test cycle 3 there were 14 students get 78.4 or 82.35% who belonged to a good category. In addition, it can be seen that there were 3 students get score 86.5 or 17.65% who could achieve an excellent category. It be conclude that hot seating can improve the students’ speaking ability.
