Abstract

This research is about analyzing deixis in novel. Deixis is used to denotate parts of a language that can be known directly according to the context. Deixis is also a word spoken by the speaker to the interlocutor related to the speaker’s context. The purpose of this study is to find out kinds of deixis, parts of deixis, and example sentence from deixis used in the novel. The researcher used descriptive qualitative method to analyzed the data. The result of the study can be explained as follows’ be person deixis, place deixis, time deixis, discourse deixis, and sosial deixis. Based on the result study, it can be concluded that there are 28 data person deixis, 2 place deixis, 16 data time dixis, 4 types discourse dixis, and 17 data sosial deixis. From this researh the researcher give suggest for the next further research on deixis such as deixis analysis in magazines, newspapers or brochures should be carried out.
