Abstract

ABSTRACT Maesta, Ega. 2023. The Effectiveness of using Crossword Puzzle Towards Students’ Vocabulary Mastery At The Tenth Grade Students’ of Senior High School State 3 Metro Advisors: (1) Eva Faliyanti, M.Pd. BI. (2) Syaifudin Latif D, M.Pd. Learning English in several countries has become a subject in recent years because of the impact of globalization and everyone must master and understand English to adapt to the era of globalization. This study is conducted to determine the significance of Crossword Puzzle on the vocabulary mastery at the tenth grade of Senior High School State 3. This research used quantitative research, cluster random sampling technique, and used the t-test formula. The research instruments were pre-test and posttest. There were 33 students for the control group and 36 students for the experimental group. The results of the analysis show that the t value obtained (3.483) is greater than the t table (2.01) at a significance level of 0.05 and a significance level of 0.01 which is lower than 0.05. Therefore, the hypothesis is accepted. It means that teaching vocabulary mastery using Crossword Puzzle at the tenth grade of Senior High School State 3 is effective. The researcher realizes that the results of this study are still far from perfect. Thus, she expects that other researchers conduct further research so that they can find other research findings related to this issue.
