Abstract
Paralanguage is bodily communication or non-verbal communication that plays a fundamental parts in human social behavior. This research analyzes the kindsof paralanguage in the President Joko Widodo’s speech. The aim of this research is to find out the kinds of paralenguage that produced by President Joko Widodo in his speech.Paralanguage is the object of this research. The speech that delivered by President Joko Widodo is the subject of this research. Descriptive qualitative is a method of this research.Since, the instrument of this research are videos that shown President Joko Widodo’s speech and the researcher analyzes the kinds of paralenguage that produced by President Joko Widodo in his speech. The result of this research are both speech that were held at the World Economic Forum on ASEAN on September 11-13 in Ha Noi, Vietnam 2018 and at the 16th Annual Forbes Global CEO Conference in Jakarta, Indonesia 2016. Presiden Joko Widodo shows eye contact, some gestures, facial expression, posture, appearance, vocalic and proxemic. But, Presiden Joko Widodo does not show the haptic movement or the sound symbol. It can be concluded that Presiden Joko Widodo shows several elements of paralanguage in doing the speech.
