ABSTRACT Rohmah, Nur. 2023. “THE USING MIND MAPPING STRATEGY TOWARD STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY AT THE EIGHT GRADE OF JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL 4 METRO”. Undergraduate thesis. English Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. Muhammadiyah University of Metro. Advisor (1) Fitri Palupi K., M.Pd.B.I (2) Eva Faliyanti., M.Pd.B.I. The aim of the research determine the effect of using mind mapping strategies on vocabulary mastery of even semester students in class eighth graders at Junior High School 4 Metro in the 2022/2023 academic year. This research uses quantitative research. The treatment of the experimental group using a mind mapping strategy and the control group without using a mind mapping strategy. Researchers took 60 students from 186 students as research samples. The sample for the experimental class is VIII F class and for the control class is VIII G class. Researchers used the test as an instrument to collect data. Then, the researcher calculates to answer the statements in the problem formulation. The results of the calculations are as follows: 1) the average score of students in the pre-test experimental group is 51.4 and the control group is 49.54. 2) the average score of students in the post-test experimental group was 62.14 and the control group was 54.82. This means that there is a significant difference in students' vocabulary skills using mind mapping strategies at Junior High School 4 Metro. From the calculation results obtained Independent Simple T-Test is a low value of 0.05 (0.013 <0.005) and the results of the analysis as Paired Samples Test in a sig.(2-tailed) value of 0.000. It can be concluded that the sig.(2tailed) value is lower than 0.05 (0.000<0.005). It can be interpreted that there is an effect of using mind mapping strategies in learning vocabulary for eighth graders at Junior High School 4 Metro in the 2022/2023 academic year.
